He means that after using Practiced Stance and then a preparation it will continue to effect the preparation, even if you then cancel Practiced Stance with another stance.

For the...someone help me out. How many times have I said choking gas
1: Spreads
2: Hits every 1.3 seconds
You can't kite a choking gas ranger. They aren't melee.

I realise they aren't melee, but I have in most cases been a prime target for a choking gas since I'm a warder alot, they may take my first melee or foes. So I realise, Shit, choking gas.
Now using Communication with my team the warriors/offence will spike that target down or at least push it out long enough for me to do what I need to do.
There are lots of corners/gaps you can hide but some maps are very limited as far as this go.

Because adrenaline spiking through whirling defense is so easy nowadays.

Oh my god. If i have to say it one more time I'm going to murder you all...except jr, because i love him.
Choking gas GOES THROUGH OBSTRUCTIONS. You cannot hide directly behind walls, you have to hide behind walls plus 5 feet, even so, you can get one spell off before the ranger moves back in sight range.

Whirling defense has, what, a 40 second downtime?
If you can't kill something within 40 seconds there's something fundamentally wrong with your build and you shouldn't be worrying about choking gas rangers.

Oh God,I see all pros in here -.-
1st of all, you're going to hide behind the wall and use Melee and make your whole team go behind some wall in tight area just because that was the only place you could use it. I love you already.
But now seriously, they're not A HUGE problem. IMO choking gas is waste off skill, you could fit in something better in and just interrupt normally -.-

CG rangers don't take much skill to be effective at shutting down A LOT of casters in HA. For that reason I think it's a great skill for pugs. Even bad players can be effective with it.
It's a bit like the migraine/conjure/4 interrupt builds. You could do something more effective, but it's not really worth trying with pugs.

CG is OK for nubs, pugs, people with lag, and copy/paste build players

Choking gas is easy to play, but it's not no-skill character. You can still recognise noob choker from experienced player.

People seem to dismiss CG as being a brainless flurry spam, you can play any build by button bashing, you just arent playing them right.
A good cgas ranger will interrupt key skills in the say way a good migraine mesmer will, knowing when to swap to a warder to hit his wards and being able to move straight back to your main target in effect is killing 2 targets, rather than just sticking to one person like glue the better ones move around and change targets, distracting certain skills rather than just cgasssing them helps a lot, like hitting another rangers prep with dist keeps them out of the game.

cg is overrated imo. counters are plentiful, such as simply interrupting cg, which is very easy, or taking advantage of the fact that they have to stand still making them easy spike targets and hit them w/ aoe to pressure their monks. i say mesmer is the way to go
